Validation & Active Status
Queries live carrier databases to confirm whether a US or Canada phone number is currently assigned to a subscriber and in active service. Numbers that have been disconnected, recycled, or never assigned return valid: false or active: false. Removes the single largest category of wasted outbound effort.
Line Type Detection
Classifies every number as one of: Mobile, Landline, VoIP, Toll-Free, Prepaid, or Unknown. Line type determines:
- TCPA consent requirements (stricter for mobile autodialing and texting)
- SMS eligibility (mobile only)
- Fraud risk assessment (VoIP numbers are over-represented in synthetic fraud)
- Channel routing (landline to voice queue, mobile to automated workflow)
Current Carrier & Number Portability (LNP)

TCPA Litigant Flag
Returns tcpa_litigant: true for numbers associated with known TCPA professional plaintiffs — individuals who systematically file lawsuits against companies that contact them. This flag is unique to phone-validator.us and provides an additional layer of compliance protection beyond standard DNC screening.
Geographic Data
Returns city, state, ZIP code, area code, and IANA time zone for each number. Use the time zone to schedule calls within TCPA-permitted hours (8 AM–9 PM local time), and use city/state for regional targeting and segmentation.
